How we work

A year with Cadence, start to finish.

From the first estimate to the filed return — and everything the traditional process skips in between.
  1. Fit and fee estimate

Tell us about your structure, entities and what you need. We reply within one business day with whether we're a fit and what the annual fee would be — before any commitment.

    ~5 minutes · no obligation

  2. Switching accountants & CRA authorization

One engagement letter, one CRA authorization, one secure document request. We coordinate prior records and your existing bookkeeper or accounting system — you don't chase anything.

    Week 1

  3. Baseline review

We review past filings and records, reconcile your CRA accounts and flag anything that needs attention — missed elections, instalment gaps, shareholder-loan issues.

    Weeks 2–3

  4. The year-round cadence

Quarterly tax estimates so you know what to set aside. Scheduled planning check-ins. Compensation reviewed before year-end, not after. And when a decision comes up — a purchase, a distribution, a hire — you ask before you commit.

All year · replies within one business day

  5. Filing season, without the scramble

Documents are already organized and checked. The T2 and owner T1 are prepared together, reviewed by a tax professional, walked through with you in plain terms, then filed.

    Corporate + personal, one process

  6. After filing

We review notices of assessment, handle routine CRA correspondence, keep instalments current and set the plan for the year ahead. The relationship doesn't pause.

Switching accountants

Switching accountants, handled for you.

Most owners stay a year longer than they meant to because they expect the move to be disruptive. Here is the whole of it, in the order it happens.
  1. Step 1

    You authorize us

One engagement letter to sign and one CRA authorization request to approve — for a corporation that approval is generally done online in My Business Account. This is the only part of the move that has to be you.

  2. Step 2

    We collect your records

We contact your outgoing accountant and request prior returns, working papers, GST/HST and payroll history and the bookkeeping file — then follow up until it's all in. You don't make the call and you don't chase the file.

  3. Step 3

    Your calendar starts

Your filing calendar, instalment schedule and check-ins start immediately, not once the file transfer finishes. No gap between the old relationship and the new one, and no deadline left untracked in between.

Your side of it is usually under an hour: sign, authorize, answer a short list of questions. We handle the conversation with your outgoing accountant — requesting records is routine between firms, and you never have to explain the decision. You can switch at any point in the year; there is no need to wait for a year-end.
